Do you think the Democrats got the best deal possible under the circumstances? Even though they were not able to extend unemployment benefits and even though they were not able to do away with the corporate tax loopholes?
Or do you think the Republicans got the best end of the deal? The cuts in the Defense budget were restored. They agreed to not shut the government down for two years, at least until after the next election. Did the Democrats let them off the hook in any way?

(75,480 posts)Democrats got no government shutdown for two years. This isn't even a defensive position, but a cornered up in a tree position. I hope we change the House back to a democratic majority sooner rather than later.

(13,616 posts)If they came out swinging from the beginning, but that is an if, especially because, even if the GOP made it clear they did not give a damned about actual good work, the media and billionaire funders would keep the GOP afloat.
It is the best we can currently do, BUT, that ebign said, the current status quo is not accpetbale at all, which is why both 2014 and 2016 need to be years of bloodletting for those who think this state is good enough.
