Missouri mother attacks son's alleged heroin supplier with a bat

HILLSBORO, Mo. | A Missouri mother is facing charges, but drawing sympathy, for attacking with a baseball bat a man she believed was supplying her teenage son with heroin.

Gavan told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that she tried everything to protect her son, Clayton, confiscating his cellphone, drug testing him frequently, even sending him to live with relatives and attend a different high school. When those efforts failed, she drove to the home of 21-year-old Joshua Loyd, whom she believed supplied the drugs, and struck him with an aluminum bat.

"I don't know if I can say that what I did was right," she said. "But it was the only thing I could do in the moment."

A Facebook support page, "Stand with Sherrie Gavan," sprang up anonymously and has generated nearly 350 "likes." Several people held signs outside the Jefferson County courtroom on Monday in support of Gavan.

but she would have been better served by focusing on her son's problem instead of attacking an easily-replaced supplier for his addiction. Not much she can do in the way of providing help for her son when she's cooling her heels in jail.

Does she really think there's only one heroin dealer in the United States ?

She would've been better off taking the batt to her son

Seems Lloyd was desperate to get in contact which usually desperation in this form comes from the one looking to purchase. Or it could be that Clayton owed Loyd money.

Then again I don't know if Lloyd uses/sells Heroin and if he did, Clayton likely could have other connections especially if he has friends that also use.

The 'drug war' is certainly insane, however, on any rational analysis....

The drug dealer should take a bat to the mother

The courts would be giving him a green light to do so if they let her go

People, as a rule, don't like heroin pushers who sell that shit to kids.

It's like DU--he'd take his chances. My take? His chances would not be very good.

That's my first impulse...... Not that I would act on it, but I sure as hell would like to, selling to an underage kid.... should be illegal, oh wait, it is... happens anyways.
