This totally sucks!! I mean, the economy is recovering, unemployment is falling, but people are blaming the president for the high gas prices??? How much bad luck can one man have? Do people actually believe that Mitt Romney will somehow come into office, clap his hands and make gas prices fall to $1.79/gallon?
Guys...I know I'm not the most optimistic person around, but I am beginning to believe that the Obama isn't going to be able to win in November. It's as if people are looking for any excuse they can to vote for whoever his opponent is. And just watch, next year at this time when the Republicans are pushing legislation to privatize Medicare and Social Security, these same people are going to complain about THAT.
American voters want everything but expect someone else to pay for it. Any gov't program they benefit from is "vital", and any program they do NOT benefit from is "waste."

(14,400 posts)shouldn't follow politics if you get this bothered by a single poll out months before the election. You may not have the stomach for what's going to happen in the next while.

(3,003 posts)....after this country George W. Bush, who couldn't find the Czech Republic on a map instead of Al Gore who helped preside over the greatest period of economic expansion this country ever had, I have no faith whatsoever in the "common sense" of the American voters. There is no rhyme or reason in their actions.

Anyway, Obama's poll numbers are going to rise or fall with every weekly poll over the next seven months. But you're right to not be complacent about his chances of winning. And he needs to win by a big enough margin to make it impossible for the republicans to steal, which is something Al Gore was unable to do.

(115,735 posts)Like I said - don't panic. Polls are significant only to the extent they show trends over time. One or two polls taken on a single day don't mean squat.

(63 posts)It certainly did for me and then I saw numerous articles on how the poll sample was not reflective of the make up of the country. It didn't take folks long to prove these 2 poll results had major flaws in methodology.

(417 posts)MSM ( even MSNBC) is running with this one poll even though other polls show him doing better.
They basically ignored John Hargrove this morning when he said this poll was an outlier.
Makes for drama I guess,
