Duggar family campaigns for Rick Santorum Monday in Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Jim Bob Duggar, star of television network TLC's "The Duggar Family," a show about a family with 19 children, brought a bus full of those children to Huntsville Monday to campaign for Rick Santorum." As president, he will lead in the conservative cause," Duggar told a press conference outside the west Huntsville Walmart on University Drive.

"Don't give up today," son Josh Duggar told the crowd of about 30 people, referring to polls showing Santorum trailing both Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich in Alabama and Mississippi.

Daughter Jill Duggar said the family prayed about which candidate to support and chose Santorum because he "has a track record to prove he will do what he says." Santorum is also "pro-traditional marriage," Jill Duggar said, to which her father added, "Amen."

SORRY. With that "pro-traditional marriage" horseshit, their hate is now out in the open. They're brainwashed hatemongers sponsoring a racist, anti-gay, sexist hatemonger demagogue for the purpose of making America into a Christian theocracy. Nutjobs campaigning for nutjobs. Fuck 'em.

Nobody's "dictating" anything. What the hell are you talking about???

Prior to this appearance, I found the Duggars to be slightly off-putting due to their patriarchal and controlling family practices but generally harmless. Their endorsement of Santorum, combined with their "pro-traditional marriage" position (translated: anti-gay) just full-on thrust their hatred onto a national platform.

This decision is a bad one and, since this is a free country (pFFFFFFFFFFT), I have every goddamned right to voice how bad this 19th century hate-filled mindset is for humanity. Public figures deserve no quarter when they talk bull paddies.

That some celebrate such reproductive irresponsibility (and YES, given the serious problems worldwide associated with declining resources and overpopulation, it IS irresponsible, sorry) as well as grotesque ignorance (Palin, is but the mere highest profile example) should have all of us weeping in despair for our future.

Then there's the fact that they're trying for more, which puts the mom's life in danger and in turn means they're shunning science (environmental and medical) and deluding themselves.

Now they're hatemongers. Awesome. People like this are given TV shows.

What's scary is this: How many Palins and Duggars that breathe among us that AREN'T on TV! It's the beginning of the Idiocracy for sure . . .

The Bates family, who also have 19 children, are now getting a show on TLC. So the Duggars had better watch out because the gravy train may have some competition.

Kelley Bates has actually given birth more times than Michelle Duggar because Michelle Duggar has had twin pregnancies.

And yes, I know, it's a SAD commentary on American television that shows like THIS are considered entertainment. What happened to the nights when we used to be able to go home from work and actually watch something on television that was entertaining and had a little bith of substance?

Tue Mar 13, 2012, 10:49 PM
Mar 2012

If the media would stop fawning over the Duggar family and start digging into the dangerous, misogynistic, and downright bizarre religious beliefs that inspire them to keep producing children at the rate of a Ford assembly line, most Americans would be aghast to learn what these sweethearts of reality TV actually believe. If the Duggars practiced Islamic sharia law or belonged to a Mormon polygamist cult, they wouldn't be appearing in quirky human interest segments on 'Good Morning America'; they'd be appearing in an exposé on '20/20.' But because they're part of a radical CHRISTIAN sect, the media simply accepts and perpetuates their well-honed façade as a large, happy family that just happens to have old-fashioned values. Because most of the major news outlets face constant accusations of being "left-leaning" and "anti-Christian," and because the Duggars are so wildly popular in middle America, most journalists are too afraid to explore the family's beliefs and acknowledge that the Duggars are actually disciples of a dangerous cult: http://the-duggar-cult.angelfire.com
