General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI heard a blurb on the radio about Alabama voters worrying about Rmoney's Mormonism.
It was a bit from Politico (who I despise). The Politicolon said that the governor of Alabama was telling reporters that many of his constituents have "issues" with Rmoney's religion, not trusting it or its practitioners. Most of those, said the Politicolon, were "religious conservatives."
When did we start spelling "Dumb-assed Motherfuckers" r-e-l-i-g-i-o-u-s- - -c-o-n-s-e-r-v-a-t-i-v-e-s?
(No, I am not pimping Rmoney. I am dissing religious conservatives.)

(39,961 posts)and evangelicals have ALWAYS been leery of Mormons. Rmoney has a huge problem in Alabama and Mississippi with those two groups, and those two groups are about 90% of the GOP base in these two states. Rmoney doesn't have a prayer, here, if you will pardon the pun.
I live in Mississippi, and I know this for a fact. There is a deep distrust for Mormons - they are cult members to most of the evangelicals and Baptists.

I guess they've been instructed to believe that Santorum is the lesser evil. At least the polls seem to indicate that they're going to vote for him in droves tomorrow (today, rather).
Which is truly amazing: my late wife, who was a Catholic, caught pure hell from the local fundy shitheads for years simply for being a Catholic, and now they're going to trot right out and vote for Santorum.
Doubt if most of them even know he is one-- doesn't matter, anyway: they'll vote for whomever they're told to.
And the governor of Alabama, Double Doctor, or Dr2, for short, is a fucking idiot.
