BREAKING: Rush Limbaugh Syndicator Suspends National Ads For Two Weeks

BREAKING: Rush Limbaugh Syndicator Suspends National Ads For Two Weeks

By Judd Legum

Radio-Info.com reports that Premiere Networks, which syndicates the Rush Limbaugh show, told its affiliate radio stations that they are suspending national advertising for two weeks. Rush Limbaugh is normally provided to afflilates for free in return for running several minutes of national advertisements provided by Premiere each hour. These ads called “barter spots.” These spots are how Premiere makes its money off of Rush Limbaugh and other shows it syndicates.

But without explaination, Premiere has supended these national advertisements for two weeks. Radio-Info.com calls the move “unusual.” The development suggests that Rush Limbaugh’s incessant sexist attacks on Sandra Fluke have caused severe damage to the show.

From the memo:

Attention Traffic Managers of Premiere News/Talk Affiliates:

We are suspending the requirement to run barter spots for two weeks, March 12th and March 19th, for our News/Talk affiliates only.

Please replace/re-traffic any Premiere barter spots immediately. Contractual requirements to run barter spots are being suspended for these two weeks only. Replace them with Lifelock and Lear Financial or a local spot of your choice.

Earlier today, ThinkProgress exclusively reported that 140 advertisers, including dozens of major national corporations, had requested their ads no longer air on Rush Limbaugh. Lifelock and Lear Financial among the only companies standing by Limbaugh.

Over the last several days much of the advertising time during the Rush Limbaugh show on his flagship station, WABC, has been filled with free public service announcements.

preface it with "I don't listen to him, but" or "I don't like him, but". To hear conservatives talk these days, none of them, have listened to him, no way, no how, but...

And we all know they are full of it because they all repeat him verbatim 10 minutes after he says something. He's turned toxic alright.

And certainly not like "fading". LOL. They pay Rush to carry his show in some markets. You can BET that is going to dry up immediately. I'm sure part of this is that they are going to renegotiate. Heck Glen Beck has to PAY stations to run his programming. You see how that has made him fade into the background.

Rush and his right-wing friends look like they are about to get the same treatment. I think Rush has shat in the pool for everyone.

Instead of being embarrassed by silent air (which was stupid on their part...they could've played a song or something), they are now telling local stations to set up their own spots to fill the blank air where national ads used to be.

Bwahahahahahaha. It's gotten to be a serious situation.

...that was only on the internet feed, which doesn't overlay local ads. Still, it seems like a lot of advertisers who suddenly find themselves on Rush due to his slots opening up aren't liking it. Saw an article a couple of days ago about a couple of free PSA's that don't want to be aired on this show. That's gotta sting.

Nobody took him out, it was suicide! When the mega rich and famous fascist hate talker decided to verbally and publicly assault a poor private citizen in the most vile terms..a 3, count em, 3 day assault he went way past the point of no return!

I have to wonder if Rush was on a three day Oxycontin binge? He was so totally vicious with that poor girl.

He still needs to be banned from armed forces radio so its not quite over yet and

please God let the rest of the teabag haters go down with him!

The invisible hand of the free market has spoken, Rush, Hannity, Savage, etc!

How does it feel to be on the losing side boys??

I have to wonder if Rush was on a three day Oxycontin binge? He was so totally vicious with that poor girl.

This was my question, too, but I can't answer it because I have no standard for comparison. Is he like this about others on his show?--maybe others who are not so sympathetic as a young graduate student. Is he not generally vicious?

I don't know and the only way to know would have been to listen to him over a period of time. Who among us could stand to do that?

So I think this is a very difficult question for us to answer.

Also, is viciousness and lack of judgment a symptom of Oxycontin use?

Again, I know nothing of these affairs, but I sure am curious.

Any regular Rush-listening Oxycontin users here?

Yeah, I kind of thought not.

I think it's time to send out a fresh batch of e-mails, letters, and phone calls to any remaining local advertisers in our respective areas. I think it would be good to remind them that we haven't forgotten. Also, if anyone hasn't yet written and sent a paper letter to your local stations that carry his show, now would be a great time to do so.

This thread explains how to go about it effectively:

I just got a part-time painting job with this dude who is an absolute Limp-butt follower. He asks me if I listened to him recently (I tell him I don't have a radio). Then he tells me he thinks the schools get too much money. Then, then other day (Monday) he asks/tells me, or trys to come up with assine crap democrats are the reason we are in this economy. I finally got the nerve to tell him his dumbass buddy George did it.

But I don't know how to respond to this apparent moron. Does anyone have any idea how I should deal with this f'ing idiot? He admitted he only had a high school education. During lunch, I told him that there are some excellent classes at Sac. State (Sacramento CA.) on world history and government--hinting he needs to get a brain. But what else can I do to counter his stupidity?

And yes, I am looking for another job as this is only to keep some income coming in. And if you are in Sacramento, I am looking. Thank you.
