This lady has all the right ideas but has to cut her teeth a bit before becoming President.

But if she were to go for another position, those two would be a good fit for her.

(17,055 posts)in the senate for the time being. Plus I'm being a teeny bit selfish, she's my senator and I want to keep her for a while.
I do love her but not as quite as much as I love Hillary.

(30,253 posts)I have admired Hillary since she came into the national scene. I was quite young and had never seen another first lady like her. I like ballsy women who are as smart as any man and who take no crap from anyone. I think that she would make a fine president, although I'll respect and support whatever she chooses to do.

(2,097 posts)Why on earth would you want the single most effective progressive in the country relegated to the most powerless job in the U.S. government? Horrible, horrible, idea.

(2,949 posts)Were vice president before becoming president. I like Elizabeth where she is, she is making a difference in the conversation. If she ran for President it would be detrimental for all. She would not win if nominated and may end up losing her voice, not literally but figuratively.
Proud Public Servant
(2,097 posts)Have ever been elected to the presidency straight from the vice presidency: George H.W. Bush and Martin van Buren. (Sure, count Gore too if you like; that's still only 3). A powerful Senate seat is far, far better preparation and positioning for a run than is the vice presidency, unless you expect Hillary to die in office.
And speaking of the heir apparent, let's be clear about something else: a Hillary presidency is almost certain to be a carnival of anti-progressive Third-Wayism. Putting Warren inside that administration would tar her with that brush and take away her most important asset: the ability to credibly oppose the corporate wing of the party.
Again: horrible, horrible idea -- unless what you really want is to neutralize Warren.

(2,097 posts)In the sense that he's a decent mouthpiece for the administration and amusing public figure. But look at Joe's position on Afghanistan, then look at what the administration has actually done, and tell me whether he's had an impact in his job.
Beacool
(30,253 posts)I think that Joe likes the role, Hillary would have chafed under its constrictions. Ditto for Warren.

Maybe it chafes your backside, but Hillary is extremely popular within the party and around the world too. If she runs she has a very good chance of becoming the nominee, and no, this won't be like 2008.
Of all the bullshit one reads around here.........

(9,033 posts)I love Joe Biden and hated Darth Cheney, but the office of VP is still the proverbial bucket of warm spit in terms of actual power. Elizabeth Warren can be of far more use in the Senate than potentially muzzled by her running mate. I'd tend to think the same about an appointment to Secretary of the Treasury, although head of the SEC might be well worth it.
Edited to add: Sanders/Warren would blow my skirt up...but just about anyone else would be a mismatch re policy.
