So ya’ want smaller Gumint? Well let me tell you what my big Gumint has done for you.
My big Gumint created an insurance program that lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty. It’s called Social Security.
My big Gumint made banks pay into an insurance policy, the FDIC, which protects your money if the bank fails, like a lot of them did in 2008.
My big Gumint created a program that educated veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam and all those other wars so the farm boys who went to war could become engineers, designers and the drivers of the greatest economy in the world. Because they paid more taxes at their new jobs the program MADE money for the country.
My big Gumint, back in the ‘50s created the best highway system in the world. Bar none, the best.
My big Gumint virtually eliminated measles, mumps, rubella and tuberculosis from this country AND eradicated one of the worst diseases from the face of the Earth. Today Small Pox exists only in a frozen test tube in Ft Detrick, Maryland. No other place on Earth.
My big Gumint sent a man to the moon and brought him home safely, not because it was easy but because it was hard. That effort spawned the computer industry and hundreds of other patents that were given free to anyone who wanted to use them.
My big Gumint created a health care system for seniors that makes it possible for them to live independently. Without Medicare and Social Security we seniors would be an incredible burden on our children and the economy. Ya’ want me ‘n the Misses to move in with ya’?
My big Gumint has the biggest, badest, most professional military in the world keepin’ your ass safe.
