House Chair Hosts Hearing About Aliens One Day After Dismissing EPA Science

Your tax dollars at work.

http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2013/12/04/3017901/house-science-aliens/

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), House Chair of the Science, Space, and Technology Committee, has no tolerance for climate change science but he is willing to talk about aliens. With just seven days left on the congressional calendar, Smith’s committee discussed the possibility of life outside the solar system in a hearing called, “Astrobiology: Search for Biosignatures in our Solar System and Beyond.”

Yes, because this is the most urgent question. BTW, how does that relate to Obamacare? Are the aliens covered?

6. Please, he's my Congressman; but I vote consistently against him...

....I also occasionally call his office protesting an idiotic vote; letters to him get no answer at all. He's in for life, I guess, since this district is jerrymandered for him. Unless we get a different Tx. legislature to redistrict, it's hopeless.

I read that this hearing was going to take place, I wonder how much media coverage will be given to it..

simply jaw dropping stupid.

Interesting coinky dinky, a former roomie from Texas had an interest in the subject of aliens, among other things that I found to be difficult to "relate" to in a share household situation.. hmm, maybe it's in the water? just kidding..

P.S. I LOVE your sig line too btw!

What else does the House have to do? I suppose they could repeal the ACA again, but that has got to be getting boring for even the most militant GOP stalwarts. At least, when they're investigating aliens, they're not doing any further damage to the country.

But in this context of ignoring another far more pertinent aspect of science, this is bullshit.

Please meet Congressgoofy Lamar Smith from Texas. He’s a tad nuts.

He’s also living proof that politics is show business for ugly people. Bless his heart, he has a strong resemblance to a kangaroo rat. And about the same intelligence, too.

Growing weary of looking for illegal aliens, his term for undocumented workers, Lamar has decided to find them in outer space and probably kill them before they kill us. I’m serious as a heart attack, folks.

Lamar doesn’t believe in climate change and if the petrochemical industry paid you half a million dollars, you wouldn’t either. He heads the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. He doesn’t believe in any of those things, but if he had to pick one to believe in, it would be space.
