Republicans see one remedy for Obama: impeachment

By Dana Milbank,

History will record that on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary met to consider the impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama.

They didn’t use that word, of course. Republican leaders frown on such labeling because it makes the House majority look, well, crazy.

It is, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) said from the dais, “the word that we don’t like to say in this committee, and I’m not about to utter here in this particular hearing.”

One of the majority’s witnesses, Georgetown law professor Nicholas Rosenkranz, encouraged the Republicans not to be so shy. “I don’t think you should be hesitant to speak the word in this room,” he said. “A check on executive lawlessness is impeachment.”

This gave the lawmakers courage. “I’m often asked this,” said Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) “You got to go up there, and you just impeach him.”

And I know I'll get some smartass answers, but I'm honestly wanting to know - what is it that republicans think they have that they can impeach Obama over? What crimes have they imagined that he's done? There's a lot of insane shit out on the internet, even more than with Clinton and all the Vince Foster junk they tried to foist on him, but is there an actual "saner" tactic that they'll be trying - one that makes actual sense even if it's from a misinterpretation of a law or court ruling instead of the republican equivalent of, "Well... he turned me into a newt!"

... there are so many laws, that everybody is guilty of breaking some law or other. They don't have anything - they're just using the same reasoning law enforcement uses when they just don't like somebody and decide to give him a hard time.

for refusing to deport DREAMers and refusing to defend DOMA.

Same schmuck that wanted Clinton impeached. But the Rand-curious types still cite him as some kind of progressive authority.

Can you impeach for being the Super Anti-christ?

I'm so confused. Just exactly what has he done that may be an impeachable offense?

They are so deluded they can not see how obviously true the above statement is. Both Bill Clinton and Obama are relatively centrist Democrats by historical standards - and neither has been reckless with executive power - nothing like how recent Republican Presidents have acted. Obama just asked for Congressional approval prior to possibly ordering air strikes on Syria for God's sake. Republican hyper partisanship always backfires on them.

It comes to pass that Texas Senator and Congressvarmints are still trying to impeach President Obama.

Honey, if they don’t have anything better to do they can come over to my house and fix the damn potholes in the street. But, no. It’s Christmas and let’s impeach Obama!...

They are not using the impeachment word for fear of looking batcrap crazy instead of just regular crazy.
