From DiabeticMan's Wife: Maybe it is time we stop laboring under the delusion that this is a

Capitalistic society.

Let's face it:

Six major companies own all the TV stations.
Major supermarkets have destroyed Mom and Pop grocery stores.
We have Cable companies, water companies, etc dominating cities. Try calling a cities nearby cable company and ask them to give you service and they tell you no.
Look at the way Banks screw us five different ways in one blink of an eye.

I for one am not going to call our economic system a capitalistic one. I am going to call it a monopolistic society.

Once we start admitting the truth maybe we can get some serious support for labor from our fellow citizens.

In my job as a home health aid this week I was speaking to a man and he was telling me about the way the town use to be. These are things I have heard from my Mom and Grandparents but for some reason it really hit home with me. The corner store really isn't a corner store like it once was. We no longer have the local butcher store. Yes, in some areas those stores have manage to survive BUT in general it isn't the capitalism that we where taught to believe.

Just my humble thoughts. I have just been very down lately with all the stuff happening around my husband and I and even though we have had it bad I know so many more people are having it so much worse that DiabeticMan and I have no right to complain about our minor woes but they are hard for us.

It just seems so much harder each year to keep our heads above water and the idea of just have a small home able to take a vacation and just having a simple life his parents my parents and our grandparents had.

Evolution gave us dinosaurs, unnecessarily large creatures that could not survive during less hospitable times.

Now we have gigantism on a corporate level, too. Won't these 'giants of industry' reach a point where they become too big to function well?

You have every right in the world to bitch, most of us do.

Remember to be good to yourself along the way.
