made his speech describing the Republican health care plan:
"Don't get sick. Just don't get sick. But if you do get sick, die quickly."
I looked upon that as hyperbole and an attention grabber to get Congress to focus on the sorry state of our health care system. Definitely audacious. Now I realize he spoke the literal truth.
The amount of lying and fraud that is occurring in many states, along with the stubborn, manic refusal to set up exchanges and/or expand Medicaid is nothing less than criminal. And the irony is that word-of-mouth works. People in California, Massachusetts and Kentucky have friends and relatives in Texas, Wisconsin, and Florida. The word will get out and ultimately affordable health care will become a reality, but how many people are going to die waiting?
Alan Grayson was right...my refrigerator magnet with those words that he spoke reminds me daily.

(11,348 posts)I don't know how the GOP can get more than 1% of the vote with their health care strategy.

(9,298 posts)and has let many insults and hostile interviewers roll off his back. Elizabeth Warren is pretty good at this, too. They have clarity and facts to back up their positions and absolutely do not suffer hypocrisy. Republican nightmares. Love 'em!

(10,597 posts)I remember when he did it. Didn't laugh, though. I like Alan Grayson because he doesn't mince words. He looks reality straight in the face and relates what he sees, no matter who it riles up.
