(100,103 posts)To quote Peter Griffin: "Why son everything I say is a lie. Except that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. And that. "

(17,865 posts)is not going to help his situation. The first was during the "apology" when he implied that his listeners should walk away from the advertisers because they walked away from him. The second when Sleep Train apparently asked to come back (what idiot made that decision - it would have been better to have stayed with Rush than do that). He publicly told Sleep Train no in a fashion to damage them.
If you are a potential new advertiser are you going to strap yourself to Rush without a parachute or any method of exit the next time he does something so repulsive. I got to say no. Are his former advertisers going to say will it be me next if they approach him.
It probably felt good to rub his advertisers noses in the mud, and it might have been effective to keep the last few in the barn, but Sleep Train was over the top. It does nothing for him. Former advertisers are going to run away. New ones are going to think twice.

(39,961 posts)That was a publicity stunt designed to deflect criticism, and I'm shocked no one has called him on it, yet.
Research is a beautiful thing. Look up Sleep Train, the guy who owns it, and Rush Limbaugh or Jeff Christie (his given name).
Speaks for itself. They are trying to play the public into thinking people are begging Limbaugh to be their advertiser. They aren't. It's a desperate stunt.

(17,865 posts)Still doesn't make any sense except to help the demoralized masses. If the man is a friend, then he is willing to fall on a pretty sharp sword. If it comes out it was a publicity stunt, then Limbaugh and him lose credibility. Untill the resolution (Sleep Train guy groveled so much I accepted him back) he will be bleeding sales. After that he will bleed the other direction. If it has no effect, then why bother advertising at all. It is just throwing money away.
They both think they are infallible. It's a sharp sword to fall on, but there are plenty of fools willing to fall on Rush's sword simply because he's lasted 20 years spewing hate. They didn't anticipate that he hit the wrong notes in the wrong political climate.

(3,539 posts)I find it hard to believe he will want for advertisers. The advancement of the republican agenda might be more important than anything gained by a few add slots.
Consider the advertising time Charles and David Koch could support.....

Eliminating the EPA or Department of Education would be a good return on investment for what it might cost to support Limbaugh.
