Alec Baldwin blames gay activists for US show being pulled

The actor Alec Baldwin has blamed "the fundamentalist wing of gay advocacy" for the decision by MSNBC, the US cable news channel, to cancel his weekly show after he used offensive language to a photographer.

Baldwin, who was caught on camera apparently calling the photographer a "cocksucking fag", acknowledged he had to take "some responsibility" for his actions but blamed activists for the network's decision on Tuesday to pull the plug on his six-week-old talk show, Up Late with Alec Baldwin.

"You've got the fundamentalist wing of gay advocacy – Rich Ferraro and Andrew Sullivan – they're out there, they've got you," he told the news site Gothamist. Ferraro is a spokesman for the mainstream campaign group Glaad, and Sullivan is a popular blogger whose views are not widely regarded as extremist.

"Rich Ferraro, this is probably one of his greatest triumphs," Baldwin said. "They killed my show. And I have to take some responsibility for that myself."

that high profile in public, then they need to learn to control their own stupid mouth and quit blaming others. If that's what mushes around in his head, then I'm pleased he's off the air. Good for MSNBC!

bzzt. that would be a fail.

First of all, his cancelled show was a political show. Secondly, this is about bigotry- specifically homophobia- something that apparently doesn't concern YOU very much as that obvious point has clearly escaped your eagle eye.

Alec's first national show was an hour about local NYC politics, one of the stupidest moves I have ever seen in TV. Not a segment, not half the show, the whole hour about a city most Americans never visit, great as it is and blah, blah, blah.

As much as I enjoyed your talented humor over the years, I would like to know why you think you don't have to use a filter like the rest of us. Seriously, really what the fuck did you do with your filter?

Go fuck yourself Alec. You have an anger issue. Go deal with it instead of blaming your daughter, gays, and whomever else.

I remember when that horrid tape of him ranting to his daughter several years ago in a voicemail, yelling, ranting, screaming, insulting, to a THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD, because she wasn't visiting him over the weekend. I lost all respect for him at that time, years ago, and he's only continued to provide more reasons for that lack of respect over the years.

Just because someone calls himself a "progressive" or a "liberal" does not mean that he is a decent human being or that he doesn't harbor bigotry or racism, or that he even really IS what he claims to be.

He had Rachel Maddow as a lead in--couldn't ask for a better show than that on MSNBC to air just before your show. I watched 15 minutes of the first episode, and kept waiting for something interesting, some kind of spark. Nothing.

I turned it off and didn't watch it again.

Baldwin has anger management issues that are out of control. He needs to deal with that first before he tries to put blame on anyone else.

I call bullshit on Baldwin's excuses.
