http://www.commondreams.org/view/2013/12/01-0Steve Wehrly worked for more than 25 years as a corporate lobbyist in Washington state and Washington, D.C.
He represented beer companies (Miller Brewing), insurance companies (Safeco Insurance), tobacco industry (smokeless tobacco council), and casinos (Muckleshoot Tribe).
Wehrly was successful. He saved tens of millions of dollars for his clients.
If he couldnt save them money, they wouldnt have hired him.
I really like the policy argument side of politics, Wehrly told Corporate Crime Reporter in an interview last week. But to a large extent, the huge amounts of money spent on politics by everybody by corporations professions, individuals is because they think they will get something from it. Safeco wasnt about to spend the amount of money they spent on politics unless they thought they would get something from it. If you didnt get something from it, they wouldnt spend it.

(45,319 posts)Francis had a presser on his private international jet! Here is what he said!!!!!!!
"Addressing the issue of the gay lobby, Pope Francis said it was important to "distinguish between a person who is gay and someone who makes a gay lobby," he said. "A gay lobby isn't good."
"A gay person who is seeking God, who is of good will -- well, who am I to judge him?" the pope said. "The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains this very well. It says one must not marginalize these persons, they must be integrated into society. The problem isn't this (homosexual) orientation -- we must be like brothers and sisters. The problem is something else, the problem is lobbying either for this orientation or a political lobby or a Masonic lobby."

This is why I don't think we'll ever get single payer (and a whole host of other things)until there is some reform done concerning campaign finance and lobbying.

Once again and still, we are sacrificing our children's future to the worst scum on earth. Think about that.
