Both great games.

(63,912 posts)I never watch football but hubby is an avid fan. So I watched just this portion of the game because I want Joe S. to suffer. No iidea it would turn out this way! Hubby was amazed and I just was left speechless (cuz I don't know any better, really). He's still on the phone yakking to his buddies about it....

(2,679 posts)to morning joe just first to see if he shows up. I bet he doesn't. Which is a win for everyone that will be on the show. And if he is not there I will watch.
But if he is there I think I will make sure to tune in on the sports news just to see his face. I bet he still has that stunned look

(135,425 posts)I had to laugh at the discomfiture of the other team's fans, too--they looked so...entitled, and so angry that their expectations had been dashed.
And that was quite the touchdown!

(9,436 posts)That's probly close to what my brother in law (born and raised in Alabama) and huuuuge Alabama fan looked like during that run back. But he's not near as preppy as the dude onscreen. (No offense to any preppies out there)

I 'don't like' OSU only because I don't like their uniforms. pretty dumb, eh.

(68,868 posts)Untested kicker, LONG field goal, and an athletic mismatch (return team vs field goal unit).
Upton
(9,709 posts)that must be why he's won 4 National Championships..
I do agree though he made some questionable decisions in this game. The worst being going for it on 4th and 1 at the Auburn 13 with about 6 minutes left, when a FG would have made it a two score game..

(17,937 posts)....He's a damn good recruiter, but a pretty astue X's and O's guy as well. And I'm certainly no Bama or Saban fan. Even a long FG attempt, with limited chances of success is normally far less dangerous than just chucking it down field and hoping for the best. If missed, it's OT. But this just wasn't normal. Only truly safe thing to do was take a knee and go to OT, but competitors on that level don't get to that level by making the safe calls.

I think he's more hyper, easily bored, maybe ADD, constantly looking to compete, a real Type A.
On edit: his dad is a douche, but JFF is all about sports. He hasn't tweeted since summer practice started. (I think he learned his lesson.)

(46,436 posts)but I have to keep it under wraps because my husband is a Longhorns fan -- although this year he's been hoping for them to lose because he's tired of the coach. His cognitive dissonance is kind of amusing to watch.

(10,479 posts)when that absolutely magnificent play was made. Sure glad I did not change.

(10,440 posts)ANY decision he could have made in that situation would have been better. Hail Mary, a knee, a run up the middle, a fake, a multi lateral thing, flea flicker, razzzmataz, quarterback sneak, Statue of Liberty....ANYTHING would have been better.....
That kicker had a bad day already. Go to overtime and take your chances. Feel bad about MCarron there.

(182,861 posts)So many things can go wrong including what happened but he doubled up by not having anyone on the field who could run.
He had no kicking game for OT so maybe that was it... Well that does make sense either- that redshirt could probably have at least bit those ones the regular guy ( wow he had a horrible game) missed even if they were in OT.
I kicked in high school (looking time ago) but have actually goofed around with it recently. The starter -Camp?- his mind was gone. His form looked like he was trying to hit 3 different shots at the same time. That second one was all kinds of messed up.

OK.. Go Bruins when they have the ball and go-- whatever USC is-- when they have the ball.. I can dig that.

(36,450 posts)He's a resourceful kid plus he picked up some very cool, yet unorthodox techniques from members of the Dave Brubeck band when he was playing the trombone in high school. Than being said, it's a moot subject because I neglected to mention he was just carrying a broken Sousaphone last week; a Johny-on-the-spot placeholder.

(39,909 posts)Combined with last week's miraculous, last minute, WIN against Georgia,
Auburn has some serious Mojo going into the post season.
I had only one comment... the same after both games:
"Gawd wanted them to WIN.
BOTH of these games will be talked about for 100 years.

(17,937 posts)....1 in a million! I was speechless. Absolutely speechless. I thought Saban made a good call, but man did that blow up spectacularly. Even at 57 yards, I figured the FG had a better chance of success than a hail mary and less chance of disaster. If missed, they just go to OT, no harm done. Wow was I wrong!!
