Why did the WH have Kerry take part in the Churchill bust unveiling at the Capitol?

Last edited Fri Nov 29, 2013, 05:50 PM - Edit history (1)

Didn't the realize that event was a deliberate diss of the president for supposedly REMOVING the Churchill bust from the Oval Office?

Also...is anybody EVER gonna listen to Roger Daltrey again after he used "Won't Get Fooled Again" to honor the unveiling of the bust of one of the most reactionary, racist and UN-rock-and-roll people of all time?

And I actually LIKE the idea of removing Churchill's bust from the Oval Office...the man was a racist, imperialist scumbag who let 1 to 2 million people starve in Bengal during World War II just to punish Indians for even thinking about getting their independence. Hitler would still have been beaten even if Churchill had never been born...it's not as if everybody ELSE in the UK was pro-Nazi. A Labour prime minister would have been passionately anti-Hitler too, for God's sakes.

...when the President had the bust moved, he should have proudly declared at the same time that the U.S. would not be an ANTI-imperialist nation.

England loaned us the Churchill bust again, so send someone of proper stature to the unveiling ceremony. And piss on the petty games the Republicans were playing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Won't_Get_Fooled_Again

From the article:

"From 1971 – when I wrote Won't Get Fooled Again – to 1985, there was a transition in me from refusal to be co-opted by activists, to a refusal to be judged by people I found jaded and compliant in Thatcher's Britain." - Pete Townshend

The article also notes that Townshend refused to allow the song to be used in Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 911. However, it was used by Shrub during the 2000 campaign.
