What scares me is that Santorum may actually be considered a serious contender at the convention

and we may be looking at a Romney/Santorum ticket.

I honestly thought we would see Palin emerge as the VP nom at the convention --with the way some people talk in my town but after tonight's win we may be seeing Romney Santorum ticket which is a nighmare of epic scares for me.

Please tell me I'm over reading things.

It's either not going to happen or if it does, it goes down in history as the biggest win for an incumbent ever.

about "Whatever happened to Kansas." The new book needs to be "Whatever happened to America."

And I don't think he'd have a prayer of winning.

Honestly, as boring as Rmoney is, it would be fun to watch Santorum sticking his foot in his mouth on a daily basis.

Romney and Santorum have spent so much time tearing each other apart over the past few months, there is absolutely no way they can run as a ticket. This won't be a reprise of 1980 (where Bush the Smarter denigrated Ronnie's main campaign plank as "voodoo economics" and was named the VP nominee anyway; in 1980 Reagan absolutely needed Bush if he was going to go into the White House and not fall flat on his face, so the press very kindly forgot to mention "why did you think it was voodoo then and support it now?" This year, the press would be sure to ask "if you thought he was worthless in March, why are you running with him in September?" There's no way to back away from that.

Think of this as 2008 reprised: The Fundamentalists are not going to vote for either one of these people because both Mormons and Catholics, in the eyes of the Fundamentalist, are hell-bound. That is, they won't vote for either one unless there's a Fundamentalist on the ticket to counterbalance the hell-bound candidate. Sarah Palin was selected strictly to appease the fundies: they know her and like her, and the fact she's not qualified to be dogcatcher is beside the point. Unfortunately, she's not available this time because no one is really stupid enough to put Palin back on the ticket, now that America has seen her in real life.

Since I don't keep up with fundamentalists I don't know who they'll go with, except that it won't be any of the primary contenders, won't be anyone associated with the 2008 election, and won't be anyone named Bush. Is Michael Reagan available?
