Why haven't the God-luvin' spokespersons for the bible and all that is goodness (Republicans) banned the manufacture and sale of condoms? Aren't they forms of contraception?

(30,058 posts)I said this for some years but was told no that was not true. For Gringrich wailing about Sharia law, we can begin with the contraceptive idea and progress until the Sharia law ideas becomes laws, this is happening already in VA and AZ. There will be more and also condoms. It is an attempt to rule everyone, guess Rush can command who should be making prono and who can not. I can see the females rising up and perhaps cooler heads will prevail.

(45,274 posts)Why not set up as a fake religious organization, plaster yourself all over the conservative social media, & organize RW flash mobs to protest condoms at WalMart, Walgreens, Target--one by one, strike at selected local outlets of the corporations you want to make life hard for.
Edited to add--
I don't endorse actually doing this; I just find the idea itself entertaining, with no intention of enacting it.

(34,125 posts)I don't know, I see this more as a control for us nasty women folk. It is us that disgusts them and makes them think we need controlling. Otherwise why not condoms and vasectomies? Let it all be controlled by men, then we can't choose any path, to get pregnant or not.
I think it is all about men controlling women but then I am frequently wrong, but I will wait and see. If it is truly a religious movement then the condoms would certainly be next but so far.......waiting.....

Factoring in that their anti-science beliefs call for the rejection of DNA, so the only way to detect a rapist would be to have a baby that looks just like him. If that is the rapist's call, then the decision-making power is right where it's supposed to be.
I think they'll continue to support condoms, as long as men are "properly" trained in their use first.

(11,065 posts)Doing so dangerously gives it the appearance of legitimacy. There is no legitimacy to the idea that birth control is bad. Humans have practiced all kinds of methods of birth control and abortion since they figured out how babies got made. It's sensible. Unfortunately, humans evolved to be unbelievably insensible. In fact, humans are probably the most insensible species there is.
All this nonsense that sex is bad and the life of a fetus or even a potential fetus is more important than the life of the mother ALL comes from insensible religious dogma. And I'm not just talking about the physical life of the mother either, I'm talking about the healthy life of the mother whether that means her physical health, mental health, emotional health, financial health, etc.
Trying to legislate birth control on the basis that a bunch insensible people believe it's that important of an issue when it all comes from insensible religious dogma is just barking mad. It should be looked upon and dealt with as the barking mad idea that it is. It's always a bad idea to approach an argument against a barking mad idea as though it were legitimate because that gives it legitimacy that it isn't deserving of.
Don't go there. It only makes the situation worse. And they know that. That's exactly how every barking mad idea ever got control of people in the first place... no one dealt with them as the barking mad ideas they were or they didn't do it enough. Once enough people start treating a barking mad idea as though it were legitimate those promoting that barking mad idea have already won, and it's just a matter of time.

Most don't care about the sperm or egg prior to that moment.
Their target is post fertilization birth control.
