Testing welfare or food stamp recipients will have no serious benefit for taxpayers, but shouldnt we know if our representatives who helped turn a record surplus into a record deficit as millions of Americans are out of work may not be deserving of a paycheck?
Why would they resist such a common-sense approach to keeping big government under control? Do they want to pay higher taxes to finance the depraved indulgences of those suckling off the government teat?
The state legislature of Florida, where Radel is from, passed legislation to drug-test all state employees in 2012 except themselves. They even turned down an offer of free drug tests from our Carl Hiaasen.

we should drug test the people we elect after all we get drug tested when arrested, apply for a job,or random drug testing at our workplace.

(70,120 posts)alcohol and drugs fuel so much of the economy, imho, that it is pretty crazy. mostly i am fine with stoned people eating dinner, dancing, buying art work, all good fun.
but soon as you start doing a lot of anything that gives you a weakness, a backdoor into your mind, you are not the public's servant any more, but the drug's.
that doesn't mean you are fired, just that now we can see who your master is.
