I have been thinking about that lately. Many disabled people don't drive and most likely don't have a Voter ID as a result. I'm disabled and I have an ID because I am able to drive. However, I know other disabled people who don't drive and probably don't have an ID.

(13,390 posts)Especially if you include elderly people among the disabled. Why in the world would someone who lives in a nursing home or in an assisted living situation renew a drivers license they once had?
Also supported living environments where transportation service is provided.
Unless a person with a disability wants to drink or drive, many have no reason to renew state IDs or even get them in the first place.

(14,337 posts)Manhattan to be exact. I had no need to drive, or own a car, so I had no photo ID driver's license. Imagine all the voters they could disenfrancise in LIBERAL NYC, or any BIG CITY, with that one?

(14,337 posts)Back it those days they didn't want PHOTO ID. I understand you can get a non-drivers photo ID. Of course, you have to PAY for it.

(4,281 posts)They said they need a picture ID, and back then I looked like I was 16. I then got it at the DMV, it wasn't that expensive.
