Subjects we're not supposed to talk about...

George Zimmerman
JFK's Assassination
Walmart's Business Practices
The Koch Brothers
‘Rape porn’
Health Care
Fukushima
LGBT issues
Rob Ford
Climate Change

There are many more, I'm sure, but these are the current GD issues being discussed.

In discussions on the 2016 election, we've keep being told to stop talking about it because we have 2014 to deal with. So apparently we can only discuss one item at a time. Therefore we should only be discussing 2014, so as not to be distracted.

Right?

I think we should focus on issues we all agree completely with.

10. A corollary to that is: If you are happy with things the way they are, why bother posting?

And there are some here who constantly defend the status quo, I'm not sure why they bother.

3. Really. Keep talking about 2016 despite the waste of time it is

And we will continually tell you what a waste of time it is.

...but since the campaign started last September (when I met with one Presidential aspirant and saw several others making the rounds in Charlotte), you'll understand if I suggest that not everyone feels the same way.

4. Definitely not true for Fukushima, climate change, the Kochs or Zimmerman from what I've seen.

Hell, I've seen plenty of stuff, some valid, some not so much, on all four of these.....you might have something on JFK, though.

5. 2014 exists within the context of issues that these other topics bring out. These define the values

that drive voters in 2014. I think DU realizes this. Why oversimplify DU's sparring attempts to prioritize and analyze issues this way...I don't get it. Just because we should prioritize the 2014 campaign over the 2016 doesn't mean that each can't get its proportional attention. Same goes for all the other topics you list.

Come on, now.

8. Let's try this: I want to see Al Franken re-elected so he can campaign for Hillary in 2016

See, I discussed 2016, but I worked 2014 in as well.

9. I think it would be wise to remember that this being a public forum

There will be posters here that while basically being good hearted are painfully slow and don't deal well with more than one idea at a time. Sort of savants, like Forrest Gump.

Either ignore it or put up with it.

It's a website, one of millions, no more no less.

12. There are no restrictions on discussing 2016, that I know of.

If that topic isn't one of the top current topics, that doesn't mean it's banned.

Discuss whatever you want, but know that other people might want to discuss something else. 2014 is next year, so it may come up more often than 2016. I certainly won't tell anyone what they can and cannot talk about.
