Chris Christie calls former Navy SEAL an ‘idiot’

Police in New Jersey escorted a former Navy SEAL from an event on Thursday after Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) called him an “idiot.”

During a town hall-style meeting in Florence Township, a 34-year-old law school student William Brown, a U.S. veteran of three deployments in Iraq, explained that he was upset that Christie was allowing Rutgers Camden to lose the “Rutgers” name when it merges with Rowan Unversity, according to The Star-Ledger.

“I know that all my friends in the military no matter what state they’re from respect that fact that I go to Rutgers,” Brown told the governor. “It’s also true that none of my friends in the military no matter what state they’re from have ever heard of Rowan.”

Do you want to hear the answer or no? Do you want to hear me answer or don’t you? Because I’m not going to — I’ve heard you. OK, next question,” Christie said.

“Let me tell you something after you graduate from law school you conduct yourself like that in a courtroom, your rear end is going to be thrown in jail, idiot,” he added.

Really Christie? An idiot?

First, I know alot of people from NJ who are really upset about this merger. Rutgers University is a very well known university whereas Rowan is not. And even though this is the merger of a Rutger's Branch - Rutgers Camden, I know that there is alot of pride with saying 'My kid goes to Rutgers' since it is the largest university in New Jersey. So for those kids who are at Rutger Camden either because they couldn't get into the main campus or perhaps they needed to stay at home while attending college, suddenly they are being punished because someone wants to make their name bigger. Just as an FYI - Rutgers is a Div I school with almost 60k students wheras Rowan is Div III and less than 10k. Saying you went to Rutgers has more name recognition and pride than Rowan.

2. I'm always around somewhere

I might campaign in Pennsylvania this year instead of Delaware.

Delaware is guarentee blue across the state. But I think there will be some good races in Pennsylvania. I read where both democratic candidates for Attorney General have vowed to have Tom Corbett investigated for his involvement in the Jerry Sandusky case. This could be interesting and the only way to get Corbett out of office early (or at least make him unelectable in 2014).
