Blind Dog Hugs Brother:8-months-old puppy serves as his brother's seeing-eye dog

A dog’s loyalty knows no boundaries, especially when it comes to its own blood. Two stray dogs found in Philadelphia are providing a heartwarming example of this. The Chester County SPCA posted a photo of the dogs, Jeffrey and his brother Jermaine, embracing each other while sleeping.

The photo itself is a perfect representation of their relationship. Jeffrey is blind. According to the SPCA, his brother Jermaine has dedicated his life to be his guide dog, helping him move around. "The unconditional love and devotion these two dogs show is positively inspirational," wrote an SPCA spokesperson on the group's Facebook page.

Both dogs, approximately 8-months-old and believed to be lab-pit bull mixes, were found on the streets of Philadelphia back on October 5 and taken in by Operation Ava, a no-kill animal rescue organization.

"They were obviously a little bit scared and confused' said Ray Little, the Director of Life Saving at Operation Ava. "It was immediately apparent that Jeffrey was leaning on Jermaine and that Jermaine was making every effort to stay with his brother." According to Little, the two brothers are inseparable.

What a sweet pair. I hope with this extra publicity they will be adopted by just the right person/family.

Awwwwwwww, I am such a sucker for dogs.

Between the two of them, they had one properly functioning eye, and we said that Odin was his sister's Seeing Eye Brother. He led her to the litter box and to the food bowl. Honestly, she didn't need it--she did more with her 10% vision than other perfectly sighted people and animals do with their gifts. But it was sweet to see him leading her around and taking care of her. Animals can develop strong bonds with each other.

It amazes me what smart critters they are. More capable of love and loyalty than lots of humans I've met in my lifetime.

It's so nice that the shelter gives them a bed up off the hard cold floor. That is awesome. They are beautiful dogs and I hope they find a wonderful home.

...sisters from the same litter although they looked quite different from each other. We had no idea that one of them was almost totally blind in her old age until her sister had to spend some time away at the vets...Still miss both of them to this day...

In the world of nature.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - the animals of this world continue to evolve, while mankind has come to a standstill.

Thanks for posting it.

They are adorable!

The world needs more "no kill" animal shelters.
