(116,464 posts)"MANDATED HEALTH INSURANCE from the same blood sucking leeches responsible for those bankruptcies."
...same "blood sucking leeches" that were able to exploit anti-Obamacare and anti-Obama sentiments to get people to declare they love bullshit private insurance that doesn't cover much. These "blood sucking leeches" have found a bunch of allies who are lauding the virtues of their junk plans as they ask: Why can't we keep the shitty plans from the "blood sucking leeches"?

We'll hold on to our 100% coverage policy through work as long as it lasts. (which probably isn't very long).

(2,282 posts)"The new study, which appears in todays American Journal of Medicine, found that between early 2007 and mid-2009, the share of all Massachusetts bankruptcies with a medical cause went from 59.3 percent to 52.9 percent, a non-significant decrease of 6.4 percentage points. Because there was a sharp rise in total bankruptcies during that period, the actual number of medical bankruptcy filings in the state rose from 7,504 in 2007 to 10,093 in 2009."

In my case, health insurance should reduce my costs by 90% or so, and make it 90% or so less likely that a health issue or accident would lead to bankruptcy. I can say, lacking insurance, bankruptcy would have been almost certain before if something with costs over 4 or 5 thousand occurred. After January I should be able to absorb a 50k cost, shared between me and insurance.
