Reporting from Washington
MassachusettsSen. Scott Brownhas picked up the endorsement of outgoingSen. Olympia Snowe, the Republican senator from Maine who last week scolded the chamber for becoming a parrallel universe of extreme partisanship.
The endorsement from Snowe, known as one of the Senates last moderates, could help Brown in his effort to win reelection nearly three years after he swept into office on the tea party wave. Anticipating a challenge from consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren, Brown has been campaigning as an independent voice.
In her endorsement statement, Snowe echoed the slogan, praising Brown for his independent spirit and bipartisan outlook.
Like me, he approaches each issue with an open mind and is always willing to reach across the aisle to build bridges and find common ground, Snowe said in a statement posted to Browns campaign website. As I leave the Senate, it is my deep hope that this institution and America will continue to benefit from the thoughtful leadership of Scott Brown and others who favor progress over partisanship.

(10,942 posts)Warren will be well advised NOT to hire anyone from Coakley's campaign staff and to try to get every single staffer of the Deval Patrick re-election team. Patrick's team was one of the best ever, taking a Governor that made tough calls and was way down in polls going into his re-election campaign to a 6 point victory over a man that was considered to be an unbeatable republican candidate coming into the race. Patrick won, even with a turncoat former democrat taking away more conservative democrats that more likely would have voted for Patrick. Patrick won because his staff was technologically sophisticated and understood who they needed to get excited and raring to vote.

(4,507 posts)What can Warren do to win? How does the electorate break down?
What are the issues that Warren can win on? What are the issues that Brown should be held accountable for?
God knows we have enough Mass transplants in our bars and on our streets in NYC. You could run a pretty effective side campaign trying to reach out to all of those people. I mean, if they are going to poke our eyes out with all their Sox crap (lol), the least they can do is do the right thing back at home.
Can we just get the Family Guy staff to go all in for Warren and put this thing in the right column? Most of them are from Mass. and the show's favorability rating (it's not my thing, but that's unimportant here) seems very high in-state.

(20,854 posts)wow that will help. No one the Republican base loves more than Olympia Snow. I'd start printing the mailers to Republican house holds now. "Brown is an independent voice just like Olympia Snow!"
