"Smaller Government" is fascist dog whistle...

(I know DUers know this. But the pretentious hypocrites known as Republicans, GOP, and Tea Party who come here trolling this site need to know we know it. That includes you, Grover Norquist and your goddamned bathtub in which you wish to drown the United States)

They want to cut labor costs, so they want to destroy the government jobs against which they don't want to compete. Makes perfect sense from their perspective.

Greedy and vile, of course, but sensible.

“Government Jobs” serve a very real market function … they provide a working condition floor for which private industry must respect in order to compete for organizational talent.

Study after study has revealed that municipalities that maintain a significant governmental presence, e.g., State Capitols, Federal Courts, public Universities, etc., see higher median wages than their surrounding municipalities.

It is past time to make NAZI and Fascists illegal in this country. That should have been done right after WWII. Kudos to Greece for rounding up theirs.

of politicians by corporations and billionaires does not restrict freedom of speech or assembly, except in the minds of our corporate, corrupt supreme court majority. Money does not equal speech and corporations are NOT people. Citizens United is a flawed ruling by a flawed Supreme Court.

The Communist Control Act (68 Stat. 775, 50 U.S.C. 841-844) communist party was made illegal in the USA. The NAZIs and fascists both fought the communists and banished unions as well as creating a police state. We fought against that during WWII but after the war did not make either one of those groups illegal.

But we can enforce the laws already on the books far more vigorously then now, such as advocating the overthrow of government, seditious conspiracy, and other subversive, anti-democratic activities.

In addition, we can also expand the definition of sedition and advocating overthrow of goverment by criminalizing passage of laws such as voter suppression legislation, corporate immunity from the law, etc.

going to show they're tired of "big government solutions" as exemplified by the "failure of Obamacare", and Repukes will be richly rewarded in the 2014 mid-terms.

Might be a fine philosophy for an architect with a taste for simplicity like Mies van der Rohe, but no, not for a government responsible for a large country with a large population to go with it. It did not work in the nineteenth century -- the era the GOP and their corporate masters want to return to -- and it does not work now.

Smaller government could also refer to things such as allowing women the right to choose, reducing the military, ending the federal War on Drugs, and letting gays marry. There is "good" small government, and there is "bad" small government. The Right seems more content with pushing the bad small government.

Small enough to stick its nose into people's bedrooms
Small enough to ram up women's vaginas
Small enough to amass the largest and most expensive military in the world and for...what?
Small enough to keep the largest percentage of the nation's population (larger than the percentage of any other nation) imprisoned for minor offenses?
Small enough to dictate who people can marry?

Yes...they love big government - THEIR FORM of it. The big government that rapes women, imprisons people needlessly, has the most vicious and expensive killing apparatus and equipment in the world, that hates people and punishes them economically and discriminates against them based on sex, race, sexual preference. That's REPUBLICAN big government.

But government that HELPS people? That helps them when they're down and trying to survive? That levels the playing field economically so that everyone can have a decent life? That allows people to have decent healthcare that's accessible and affordable? That protects the populace from greedy, parasitic corporations that steal their money, choices, destroy the planet they live on and destroy their health with flawed, dangerous products? That delivers mail and packages on time and affordably? That helps women and children? That provides for good education for EVERYONE? They HATE that.

So yea it is about ideology, to some degree.

But people shouldn't buy into their corprat codespeak that "big government is a problem". It's not -- when it's controlled by and operates for THE PEOPLE and NOT for corprat entities and uber rich assholes whose sole purpose of existence is to serve the bottom line and profit/get wealthier at ANY COST to everyone else (corprat entities that, if they WERE actually people would be called "psychopaths&quot .

...for the most ruthless.

Everybody hates red tape, but most often the real beef of people (and non-person organizations) against "big government tyranny" is that it limits their ability to be tyrants within their own spheres of influence.
