Rep. Bachmann Returns From Israel And Netanyahu Meeting

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann has returned from a trip to Israel, where she met with officials including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The trip last week included high-level foreign policy discussions, her office said.

The four-term representative from the 6th District who sought the GOP nomination for president in 2012 will not run for re-election to her House seat in 2014.

In a statement today, Bachmann said it was an honor to visit Israel:

"My time there only reaffirmed for me the pressing need for the United States to stand unequivocally with our friend and ally, Israel.

"I agree wholeheartedly with Prime Minister Netanyahu that the reported Geneva deal to pull back sanctions on Iran was a very bad deal for Israel and the national security interests of the United States. That deal would have given the Iranians the luxury of time to continue unimpeded towards developing a nuclear weapon, while giving up any leverage we possess.
