over the next couple of years. Governing New Jersey while trying to impress Republican primary voters in Texas and Louisiana and attempting to remain electable in the Northeast states in November 2016 is like trying to fry eggs while naked and blindfolded.

Hopefully we will only have him for 2014 - though . . . the Lt. he ran with is just as bad as him.

Can he be like Bill Clinton, who ran for president in 1992 while still governor of Arkansas? Sure, he can, said Ben Dworkin, the director of the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University. But whats changed since then are new rules overseeing the financial services industry, and Wall Street people are the biggest supporters of Christie. Hes looking at tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars in political donations.
And so the problem? The new rules Dworkin mentioned are simple: Wall Street cant donate to any candidate who oversees an investment fund, and Christie technically oversees New Jerseys investment fund. Christie could argue its really overseen by an independent board, but a move like that would certainly land his campaign in court.
He can't do both and get the big money that he will really have behind him on Wall Street.

(31,464 posts)5. He has more skeletons in his financial closet than Bernie Madoff
He will need a first-class smear machine/damage control team to get him through a presidential campaign.
