One of the best George Carlin ideas was to have an electronic sign put in the rear window that you could message other people. The folks at MotorMood are gassing up on the Kickstarter circuit to get their product into gear.
Americans spend an average of 910 hours a year in their car. These hours are often filled with frustration, isolation, and boredom. MotorMood alleviates some of this pain by allowing users to easily communicate their emotions to other drivers.
The product is simple: a 3.5 inch diameter, light up emoticon face decal is displayed in the rear window of a car. A small, easy to use remote controlling the faces is attached to the drivers sun visor. When a user presses a button on the remote, the corresponding face decal on the rear window lights up. Individual face decals include angry, happy, winking and distress.
On a basic, functional level, MotorMood solves the frustration of not being able to communicate your reactions to events on the road with other drivers. Our product also helps reduce feelings of isolation and boredom that solo drivers sometimes feel by allowing a richer level of communication between drivers. Additionally, in certain use cases, MotorMood can facilitate better understanding between drivers thereby reducing road rage and accidents related to miscommunication. Finally, our product allows a new level of real time self-expression which complements growing trends of social sharing and emotional openness according to inventor Jesse Kramer.
