We had four: mayor and half the city council. All the candidates endorsed by our loudest local right-wing group lost, in no case by less than 15 percent.

(42,769 posts)The city commissioner I voted for was a dark horse and he came in fourth out of four.
Those were the only two races on the ballot.

(14,910 posts)The outlying suburbs were decidedly (R) as expected.
The only surprise was in the Mayoral election, where Warren defeated the incumbent Mayor in the primary. The current Mayor withdrew from the race due to his son's health related issues, but still remained on the ballot. He was nearly re-elected ( by a few thousand votes ) last night on the Independence line.
I'm happy with the outcome in the Mayoral election, the former incumbent Mayor was a (D) merely by association and necessity. He was a corporate man, the former CEO of the largest energy supplier in the area, so he had lots of friends in development, and the giveaways were generous.
Lots of hope for our City under Lovely Warren, our city's first female Mayor!
Best of luck!
