New right wing talking points?

I was talking with my brother in law today. He is addicted to Rush Limbaugh and we have had some heated discussions in the past, so now days I try to avoid any political discussions. Today he was in one of those moods where he just had to get political. He was talking about selling everything he owns because of "Obama care" and the fact that the "government" is going to take everything away from those who own any kind of a business! He decided it just isn't worth it. He has had some problems with his business, not major, which mostly involve a repairing vandalism and not getting along well someone who rents from him. I have some of the same kind of problems, but to even bring "Obama care" into the discussion was really out there.

I was wondering if this is some kind of Rush BS about Obama care behind some kind of take over of peoples business. He has no employees so there it has nothing to do with having to buy any health care for employees. Has anyone else heard this kind of BS from right wing family or friends? Just curious.

and live off the land. You'd be surprised how many "libertarians" are all mouth and couldn't cut a single day of farming, never mind living it. He really should. He won't have time to get to the polls, either, hopefully, since he will be working his ass off.

He actually, because of his religion, claims to be NON POLITICAL, yet he is republican through and through. Actually he does farm, small farm, and he does the vast majority of the work by himself with his wife. He does all his own maintenance on some rental buildings, and has been remodeling some of those buildings all year long, doing a lot of it himself. He is not lazy by far, just brain washed from listening to Rush day after day, and year after year. He really eats of the fear and smear BS from Rush. As for going to the polls he does not vote, religious thing.

2. Two questions...

1. Is he a BIL that is married into your family or a BIL that you married into his family? If he married into yours, I'm so sorry. Maybe offer your sister refuge. If the other side, let his parents know that you'll be glad to take his place at the table this Thanksgiving while he walks the streets in solemn reflection over why he can't 'take his country back'.

2. What is he selling? Anything worth buying?

Do I seem cold hearted? Not. Just have had it up to 'here' with crazy, lately. My sympathy well ran out a couple of weeks ago.

I wish you and your family the best of luck. I haven't heard this bit of RWishness, but I don't doubt that he picked it up somewhere from some irresponsible wannabe 'journalist' that has nothing to lose except a wad of cash and a soul.

He is a Jehovah's Witness so no celebrating Thanksgiving, and his father died 21 years ago, mother just died on October 4th of this year, both were republicans.

I live in a very red part of the state so "crazy" is normal around here. Lots of the old white guy GOP types, and a good share of crazy ass tea party nuts floating around so I am sure there are lots of these crazy stories around, I just avoid the nuts if I can.

to tell him to just sell everything he owns now because I've heard through my secret contacts in the Black Communists movement that the last two years of Obama's administration will be taking away all the of the rights and property of White America.

Get out while you can!

I have heard him upset before, but this time it was just plain crazy to bring in Obama care, and how the government, current that is, will be taking away everything. He won't follow through, at least not selling everything. He likes the money to much!

He was not listening to Rush for some time, but seems to be back to his every day addiction, and sadly he is very gullible when it comes to buying into the right wing smear and fear tactics.

Mind been while Bush and his buddies was allowing the banks to fail, etc, took a surplus budget and started running up the deficit while jumping into two wars he was unable to pay for but still managed to give tax cuts. Your brother stands to benefit from Obamacare will be doing more for stress.

It was a huge argument that followed, mostly on his part. He really lost it when I pointed out the facts and told him that getting all his information from Rush meant not getting any facts! He liked the Bush tax cuts, and did not really approve of the wars, but his view was that "Clinton" was the one behind the wars not Bush. I told him he need to get better information, but it didn't do any good. I do like the guy when he isn't on a "down with government" kick, so I try to avoid the confrontations if I can.
