In a stunning move, a federal judge Monday ruled that abortion restrictions authorized by Texas lawmakers in July are unconstitutional, and will not be implemented as scheduled on Tuesday, according to court documents obtained by NBC News.
So now....
12News at 6 EXCLUSIVE: The state inspects a Beaumont abortion clinic and finds multiple violations that the state says jeopardized the health of its patients.
I don't have a link yet....

(9,527 posts)But can I shut down the Texas government because Rick Perry's sheer stupidity jeopardizes my health even though I don't live in Texas. Given how much harm the last governor of Texas did to the country, I feel it would only be prudent.

(112,369 posts)12News has learned that Beaumont's only abortion and women's health clinic has been flagged on 13 violations by the Texas Department of Health.
The October 3 inspection at Whole Woman's Health of Beaumont turned up potential health issues.
The report says the facility failed to provide a safe environment for patients and staff. The suction machines which were used on patients had numerous rusty spots which, "had the likelihood to cause infection."
The report also says, "the facility failed to have the EKG monitoring equipment ready if an emergency situation occurred..."

(33,956 posts)interesting to watch over the next few days at how many other abortion clinics in the state don't pass inspection.

(112,369 posts)Besides the rusty suction cups, the other violations ranged from improper storage of oxygen tanks and a hole in the floor where sterile equipment was being kept. These certainly are legitimate safety concerns that need to be corrected.
There were also a number of record keeping violations and other errors such as not having the printer paper fed correctly into the EKG machine. Needless to say, I wouldn't doubt that a number of other violations will be found at the clinics when they look into the follow-up contacts made with patients, etc.

(10,942 posts)to pieces, while putting a camera into all of our bedrooms and a vaginal probe up every young woman's vagina, and regulate all of our sex acts. There are some very good reasons to kill the GOP, the party is horrid on economic matters and it's dirty little mind is always in the gutter. The GOP is like the snotty nosed weakling that sneaks around looking up girl's dresses with a concealed mirror.

(5,937 posts)The parts the limit time remain intact. I do not think the ruling was much of a victory unless I am not understanding correctly.

(114,904 posts)The 20 week restriction wasn't challenged and neither was the regulation regarding the physical plant standards to be imposed on clinics. the drug protocol piece was challenged but it was upheld.

(114,904 posts)should it go into effect, most clinics in TX will be forced to shut. The regulation forces clinics to meet the same physical plant standards as ambulatory surgical centers. Very expensive.
