Y'know those ads telling Young People not to get Obamacare?

That effort, if successful, would have the effect of increasing typical premiums across the board.

So in addition to whatever young libertarainist prop-outreach is involved, and the basic RW desire that young people not get much medical care, there's that.

It was really something hearing republicans today asking Sibelius about the potential disastrous effect of young people under-participating.

Talk about high-level concern trolling! "Oh noes! Wouldn't it be awful if these ads we run had their desired effect?"

Technically, what is required is either participation OR paying a fine, so it is more in the overdue library book category of offense.

The Last Word 10/22/13
Rewriting Obamacare’s mandate
The individual mandate has been a source of controversy ever since Obamacare passed in 2010. But there’s a truth about what the law really says that many in the Washington media don’t seem to know. Lawrence O’Donnell explains in his Rewrite.

Note: the web site has just been redesigned and I found that posting links to given segments without social media apps is not so user friendly. I see that this link brings one to the general show but you'll need to scroll to the 10/22/13 "Rewrite" segment to watch this.

Failing to purchase insurance is not criminal. It results in an additional tax for the individual.

is that the hand of the puppet is that of an elder man. look at it, sallow and... it's not a young person and most likely a male looking at the nail on the index finger.

well, from a palm-reader POV, it is a man who makes a lot of money and doesn't spend a lot of it. Unfortunately, also someone who is healthy and likely to live a lot longer... wish the whole palm was exposed, there would be more to tell.
