The Grand Bargain is in play! Call Congress Right Fucking Now!

From a thread in the Md group about a John Delaney message:

Finding a real compromise on the budget that is based on facts, not ideology. We need to reform corporate taxes and entitlements and make sure that we continue to invest in our future. A grand bargain that includes revenues and spending will restore our fiscal health and allow us to avoid these destructive standoffs.

I spoke to this guy before the election, he promised me he was a progressive, he promised he would not be touching SS, now he is using the Grand Bargain which if I have it right, is the third way code for chained CPI or some other hit to SS.

Those fuckers got more than they deserved with sequestration, they can't get another fucking dime!

He will be hearing from me today.

Your reps need to hear from you also. No damned grand bargain!

does it say that the Conference COMMITTEE, of which this guy is NOT a part, is going for a "grand bargain"?

All he is doing is expressing his OPINION of what HE would like seen done and he is just 1 out of 535 Congress members. He is also spouting the existing Democratic talking points about a "balance".

The prevailing thought after the 2011 debacle is that some kind of "grand bargain" is essentially DOA. If anything, there will probably be jockeying around the sequester.

He would not have been elected. How about Democrats start 'spouting' the truth instead of 'talking points'?

How about they start demanding cuts to what has really caused the country's financial problems.

The only elected official I hear actually addressing the FACTS is Bernie Sanders. If he can tell the truth, why can't this guy? There is no excuse for 'spouting' damaging 'talking points', absolutely none. Doing so is what cause the lies to continue to spread.

Is it too much to simply ask them to do what is right now?

Sen Sanders, on SS? It's simple 'we will not bargain on SS, period'. And imagine the support they would get for doing so.

So why are we not hearing what a majority of the people want to hear? Who are they trying to please by making these suggesting? It sure isn't a majority of the people.

discussing compromises with the Right Wing morons after they ended the shut down. I was disappointed as we were under the assumption that Dems had learned finally, that you don't compromise with these morons.

If you have a link, that would be helpful.

Asked if cuts to Social Security and Medicare could be part of the grand bargain, Reid admonished the radio host, saying, “You keep talking about Medicare and Social Security. Get something else in your brain. Stop talking about that. That is not going to happen this time. There is not going to be a grand bargain.”

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/10/reid-says-no-to-grand-bargain-thats-all-happy-talk/

Reid also said that he would make sure to protect Social Security against attempts to trade cuts for sequestration relief, calling such a bargain "a stupid trade."

"That's no trade. We are going to affect entitlements so we can increase defense spending? Don't check me for a vote there. I'm not interested in that," he said.

"It is the most successful social program in the history of the world. The program is not about to go broke, so take it easy on Social Security," Reid said.

"It is the most successful social program in the history of the world."

Maybe he reads DU?? How many times have I said that only to be attacked by the Third Wayers here.

Anyhow, that IS good news. I had not seen that and yes, I DO like it. Hopefully he will not be fooled by the deception of the CPI proposals and the lies that this is not a cut to SS.

SS IS the most successful Fiscal Program ever in this country. Reid got that right and THAT is what Dems should be saying, over and over again until it overcomes the lies of the Heritage Foundation in the minds of the people.

Thank you for the link, that DOES make me happy, finally!
