A Surreal Descent Into Poverty and Desperationby paradox
..............
............theyre cutting food stamps as we speak and want to cut Social Security! Democrats own the
White House and Senate, but we didnt learn any economics in 70 years of alleged intellectual development, its 2013 and weve frantically breathed life into the zombie of Herbert Hoover, he rules Washington DC again!
How on earth did we ever allow ourselves to get into such a twisted, ass-backwards political mental state? This isnt perception of policy or ideology, Americans are hungry, starving and homeless, so one cuts food stamps and social spending? Proposes cuts to Social Security?
An absurdly conservative corporate DC media bubble, overwhelming special interest money, gerrymandering, voter suppression, whatever, somehow our politicians got so cut off from reality in some surreal fantasy of what are people are going through theyre doing precisely the wrong thing in policy and morality, oh my god. Hello? We shouldnt be cutting Social Security, we should be significantly increasing it.
In a shocking development it turns out 401ks are a joke from a macro policy perspective, a huge wave of elderly poverty is soon to engulf the country and all of us. Not only is the idea of cutting Social Security surreal in its blindness to current reality, its laughably absurd in the face of what the United States will soon need for its people.
The next President must fix the labor market and must address climate change, yet hugely increased Social Security benefits must immediately be implemented too. Somehow we must find a liberal candidate and President in 2016 to put the little people always first or the country as we know it will simply vanish, a hollow shell of a once proud county horribly degraded in human poverty, hunger, desperation and furtive human agony.

(11,785 posts)We won't have a "next President" for more than three years. What are people supposed to do, while waiting for this "next President"? Have we given up on this one? What if the next one's not interested in fixing the problem?

(17,621 posts)What we need is a president and a Congress determined to work together to get this economy working again before the torches and pitchforks come out. Of course, that means we need a Congress that isn't full of obstructionist idiots.

(8,879 posts)commerce loving pukes stand to gain by reducing/eliminating entitlements? I seems logical to me that redistribution to people who will pump that money directly back into the economy where these business owners might stand to make a few extra sales and profits would be a welcome thing. As a business owner myself, I would love it, absolutely love it if somebody gave my potential customers an extra $20.00 to spend at my business. Talk about a win for the customer and a win for me! Is it that the people who float these shit ideas are so far removed from retail spending or production of anything useful that a stimulated economy does nothing for them?

(2,145 posts)I have never understood the rationalization of destroying the public's buying ability with low wages and low hours. Do they not realize that translates to lower sales for them and other businesses?

(4,353 posts)so batshit crazy and backwards, as so much out of DC for decades, that there has to be an agenda. But what is it? Any politician who votes to cut more humanitarian aid to their own people, the American people, is a cold, calculating, callous, bought and paid for parasite. I guess they want more of......
