Revoke USDA permission granted to four Chinese poultry processing plants allowing those plants to import U.S.-raised and -slaughtered chicken, process it, and then export it back to America. As no on-site monitoring is mandated in China, this poses potential health and safety threats to the U.S. consumer. Chinese standards should not be interpreted to be equivalent to U.S. standards. Also at risk are American jobs at U.S. processing plants. No country-of-origin labeling is required on chicken processed in China, and individual companies will get to decide if they want to label the imported, Chinese-processed chicken as a 'Product of China.'

1. Send chicken from US to China for processing, then return them here. No brainer.

Gigantic waste of fuel and only one reason, profit.

Meanwhile, fewer jobs for us and fewer environmental and health protections.

3. Oh, and the Chinese food safety situation is awful.

Recent stories I've read include-
Rat meat passed off as mutton.
Cardboard paste substituted for steamed buns.
Pork molded, glued and dyed so it can be sold as beef.
I suspect this is the tip of the iceberg.
