28 fallacies about the Fukushima nuclear disaster

The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is back in the news, with recent reports of continued leaks. Coming on the heels of these new reports is a viral blog post entitled 28 Signs That The West Coast Is Being Absolutely Fried With Nuclear Radiation From Fukushima. The article is a paranoid, poorly reasoned attempt to link the tragedy of the Fukushima disaster to just about every environmental issue facing the US west coast in the last few months. At its best, it’s an illogical piece of post-modern absurdism. At its worst, its empirically false and intentionally misleading, rife with out-of-context quotes and cherry-picked data. The author had 28 chances to make a single reasonable point, and every single one rang hollow.

Are you against warning people? I take it the link is against warning people of the potential of harm due to the radiation plumes that have and are expected to arrive in the US.

Or is it your view the author at the link may already be fried?

the one I posted didn't go over very well.So I posted this one in an attempt to possibly get at more facts and maybe a better discussion of what is actually happening.

I personally think it's going to get worse and people should be warned/informed.

All we have to go on at this point is the limited science available. The 28 points are just observations about what is being seen around the NE Pacific region. Meaning the NW coast of the US.

We do know that some items from Japan have already washed ashore so it is no stretch to think that we already have some of the radiated plume.

Having followed more than a few of the stories coming from the deaths and die-offs, I am flummoxed by the fact that no official reports are cited anywhere. It leaves me feeling a little odd that the NWS, a great organization, has not yet issued a report on the sea lions, the seals, or much of anything concerning what is causing the evident changes of note.

Until then, we are on our own, eh?

I've seen that dumbass article posted at DU 3 times now. Good to see someone taking the time to show it for what it is.

Thanks for posting
