I would call McCarthy a threat to national security. Helms was a revolting, in the extreme, racist. But somehow Cruz, maybe because he's currently on stage, just strikes me as the most a-hole like.

others named were far worse. Cruz is just a very ambitious fellow, and he is trying to draw attention to himself. I am not impressed at all, he is nothing big, or important. I think duers spend too much time on him.

There have been some incredible assholes in the senate over the years-Ted's just the latest shit-stain to grace the hallowed halls of congress, certainly not the worst.

Top 10? Maybe. Top 20? Likely.

but McConnell has stalled damn near everything for 5 years, McCain I still maintain is a top notch asshole, Jeff Sessions is about as racist and neo confederate as they come. And the two clowns from Oklahoma, good god!
Cruz has simply pissed off his fellow travelers which others never attempted.

Theodore Bilbo, Jim Eastland, Joe McCarthy, Bully Brooks, and Jim Bunning rank way ahead of him. He's not even the clear number one currently, as Rand Paul is working hard to reclaim that title on a daily basis.

is still Joseph Turncoat Lieberman. I expect the Republicans to be assholes. I don't think they're capable of anything else. But this vomitous cretin called himself a democrat, helped throw a monkey wrench into a democratic presidential campaign, then left the party when a real democrat took him out of the primaries.
