God help me, but I was just thinking about our 2016 Presidential prospects and got happy

Sorry, it was a thread about Senator Sanders (who I personally don't think would seek the nomination), but it got me thinking.

We really have an embarrassment of riches in '16: Clinton, O'Malley, Schweizer, Tester, Warren, and several other names I'm sure you can all come up with. I have no doubt this place will become absolutely intolerable with fighting about them, but I wanted to just get out there that we have some very, very excellent people to choose from.

Now, that's an election away and we have VA next month and the mid-terms next year, which we need to focus on. I just wanted to put some positive thoughts out there about how deep our bench is right now.

Good, but can we think about 2014 prospects and get busy? :) Liberal_Stalwart71 Oct 2013 #1

With the republican clown car roll out already starting I couldn't help but think about (in your words) the embarrassment of riches we already have. We'll fight about who is more outstanding. They'll be choosing who looks best in the big red nose and orange fright wig.

It does make me smile when I think about it.

Today I went on Facebook where there was a discussion about Chris Christie that gave me a nasty shock. Gay men and straight women were discussing how refreshing that governor was. They spoke of his moderation and how smart he was. They perceived him as standing up to his party and being so bipartisan. Why he would even have his picture taken walking by the side of President Obama. Big wow! Women actually saying how cool he was in giving the congress of his own party the finger. They love that he makes jokes at his own expense. Worse they do not precieve him coming off like an ideaologue. It just went on and on!!! I just do not understand his appeal!I see him as a pontificating jerk. How can they not see this? It spoiled my whole day. Hell, I'm still angry about it and creepily unsettled. We need to keep our eye on this guy because he is way too popular with people who should know better.

I mean even when several of us begged to differ, but it was like hitting a brick wall. These people are not idiots, yet they disregard his views on marriage equality and a woman's right to control their own health care, issues that effect them personally. They have no idea of his true record as a conservative on all the usual issues as well as his very disagreeable bulling personality. They see him as a moderate leader of his party and they genuinely like this fraud. I'm having post traumatic stress flashbacks to how many people loved G W Bush when he ran for President. Just a regular guy that you want to have a beer with. Please!!!!!
