I've spent the day babysitting my 18mo grandaughter. I've been covered in blankies and dolls, and I even wore a pink bracelet she gave me.
I haven't thought about politics all day, I've been playing with a baby. It's a good thing. It's a great thing.

(27,985 posts)I am so lucky. I work in a level 3 NiCu but most of ours are "feeders and growers". I get to love and cuddle them and send them home with loving parents. Sometimes my coworkers drive me crazy but the babies are just wonderful.

(31,464 posts)It was at once the most depressing and most rejuvenating time of our lives. She'd spent nights cuddling babies, while I wrote newsletters about the traumatic stories the families endured. Forgive me while I go weep for a moment.

(27,985 posts)My time in this NICU has been wonderful - it;s my second career, after L/D. I never thought that might dredge up sad memories for you. It's certainly true that the parents often have it the hardest.
