PHOENIX -- Michael Guzzo was becoming increasingly unhinged.
For months, he complained about incessant dog barking coming from homes all around him. He even put up fliers on doors throughout his Phoenix townhome complex advising people of pet ordinances and fines.

It never occurred to Mr Guzzo to move?

(14,400 posts)I don't advocate taking out your neighbors for it but assholes that refuse to control yapping dogs at all hours of the day and night are some bloody annoying.

(16,079 posts)Or was Guzzo already on the edge, because of some other problems?

(55,445 posts)and the dog barking was the "justification trigger"
If it wasn't dogs barking, he'd have snapped because the houses were all painted the "wrong" colors or something...

(12,017 posts)and i must admit, during a sleep deprived moment, considered shooting the dog (not too seriously... but it DID cross my mind). After he failed to control his mutt, I called the Sheriff. The first visit was a warning. When they returned two days later (yes, I called them again at 2AM) the fine was $300... if there had been a third visit they would have seized the animal.

(13,466 posts)My parents last dog barked almost constantly for the entirety of her 15 1/2 years on the planet and no one shot them.
This guy had issues already, no other answer for it.

She said "I'm not sure but you can check him if you want", so I picked him up.
After about 4-5 minutes I said "I sorry but he's gonna' have to be put down"
She said "OMG No!" I said "Yeah, he's getting heavy"

(14,881 posts)They left the poor thing on a tie-out by himself all night, where he'd cry and cry. He had a lousy half-assed shelter of just a plywood board spread over some blocks -- this were it gets nor'easters and 15 below and blizzards that blow every direction. Just as bad, tied out alone he was coyote and coy-dog bait...
It turned out they were occasionally caring for him for his real person, and then they moved away before I could figure out how to get him out of there without getting caught.
