Academy Award material...Brad Pitt kills it in his cameo role. In the movie "Lincoln" the president cites "Euclid's Law" as the basis for his opposition to slavery. In this movie Brad Pitt's character does something similar.
Chiwetel Ejiofor is excellent as Solomon Northrup.
I read a review of the movie and it said it was like "Schindler's List" without Oskar Schindler. There was no savior however Brad Pitt's character comes close...
If you have the chance you should see it...

12 Years A Slave Official Trailer (2:30 minutes)
12 YEARS A SLAVE is based on an incredible true story of one man's fight for survival and freedom. In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty (personified by a malevolent slave owner, portrayed by Michael Fassbender) as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon's chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist (Brad Pitt) forever alters his life.
Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Dano, Paul Giamatti, Lupita Nyong'o, Sarah Paulson, Brad Pitt, and Alfre Woodard. In theaters October 18.
