Forever Home Found For Cats Who Closed NY Subway

You may have heard the story in August of the two kittens that got onto live rail tracks on the NY subway. Electric power was turned off delaying services for an hour in order to rescue them. While the kittens became famous as a result there was a political storm with mayoral hopeful Joe Lhota saying that power should never have been turned-off, while rival Anthony Weiner said that if ever a kitten was in peril he would personally go and save it.

The good news is that the kittens were miraculously rescued unharmed. They were sent to Animal Care and Control of New York City who have since found a new home for them. Here, with their kind permission, is a photo they have released of the cats with their new owners Brooklyn Heights couple Katherine and Keith Lubeley who had applied to adopt a cat through the Animal Care and Control of NYC.

The word is out that the cat Arthur and August are settling into their new home extremely well.

We thank everyone who has been involved in ensuring that this story had a happy ending. Sadly there are many more less famous but equally needy cats in Animal Care and Control of NYC still waiting to be adopted.

That "no-kill" shelter sure does find ways to kill animals off anyway.
