"Rush Limbaugh has a freedom of speech and can say what he wants, but in light of his horribly misogynistic comments, American Forces Radio should no longer give him a platform. Our entire military depends on troops respecting each other - women and men. There simply can be no place on military airwaves for sentiments that would undermine that respect. When many of our female troops use birth control, for Limbaugh to say they are "sluts" and "prostitutes" is beyond the pale. It isn't just disrespectful to our women serving our country, but it's language that goes against everything that makes our military work. I believe in our Constitution, including the freedom of speech, and would not take that away from anyone - even Limbaugh. But that does not mean AFN should broadcast him. In fact, it shouldn't."

(1 post)Let us with equal indignation take Bill Maher off the air, for calling Sarah Palin a "twat" and even a "c----"!! And calling Barbara Bachman a "boob"!
When liberal indignation extends to liberal commentators, then you will be taken seriously.
Btw - don't think I caught Bill Maher's apology - did you?

BTW I think that is good writing on my part.

(7,093 posts)Gave "sincere" apologies unlike the pseudo-apologies and insulting remarks given by Rush Limbaugh. Also, none of those whom you mentioned have shows on AFN radio. I do remember the left conmdemning both Ed and Maher. Have you heard them talking bad about women since those incidents? I am sure they learned their lessons and are perhaps grateful for not being fired. The same cannot be said of Rush
he is still spewing his hatred of young educated women even today.
From my experience in the military, unlike in the states where you can turn your radio off to not listen Rush's garbage, when you are overseas you only have but the military broadcasts to listen to. So, you are basically forced fed this garbage day to day. We already have problems as is in the military so why have him in the airwaves of military installations? I am sure that if Ed was on AFN, conservatives would have made a big fuzz about it and Ed would have been fired after his comment. Bill Maher? His show Politically Incorrect was cancelled from AFN TV after his comments on 9/11.
