I think it is really funny that after a government shutdown under the auspices of trying to kill ACA (aka Obamacare) that now the Repugs are trying to get to the bottom of the problems with the website. We Dems need to push this point - that we're glad that the Repugs are interested in helping get the problems with the website solved so we can get Americans signed up for Obamacare. Thank you for helping.
Maybe if we took that tact with the Repugs that they would drop back from these stupid hearings that will again go nowhere.
Just a thought!!!!!

I realize in this case you seem to be saying it more in jest, but it's happened with sincerity so many times it makes me want to vomit when I see it.

(25,253 posts)anything to make PBO look bad. But in a round about way - these stupid hearings that the Repugs are conducting are going to have an effect on getting the website problems taken care of ASAP. Given that - it does give the impression - and if the shoe were on the other foot - that the Repugs are helping solve the problems.
What I find interesting is that a few short months ago I signed up for medicare. I had to use the medicare.gov website to get info that directed me to the insurance companies in my area that have the supplement plans and Part D.
It worked flawlessly. Partly because all states participate in medicare.
Essentially this ACA website will do the same as the task is very much the same.
Where the problem seems to have been created is those pesky Repug Governors in the Red States that aren't cooperating. That made the task of this website more clumbersome. Those issues will eventually be worked out. I'm confident about that.
So yeah - my original post was somewhat in jest - but in a round about way there is some truth in what I said about the Repugs helping.

This is definitely a witch hunt - not that it couldn't have been a better roll out, but issues arising for something of this scale is completely normal - and the media is all too willing to cooperate.
I don't think anyone is going to believe that the R's are trying to help though.

"I want to thank the Republican Committee for helping me get to the bottom of the issues that are causing problems with the roll out of ACA. I'm sure that with their help here that we'll be able to get this website running smoothly and make the process for people signing up for insurance easy and user friendly."
If he made a statement like that - I'm thinking that the Repugs would shut down those hearings promptly.
They're not interested in helping him the President out on anything - and if the word got out to American People that the President thanked the Repugs for helping him out - think of how that would play in Repug world.
