After the report came out at HuffPo, and was circulated by Daily Kos and others, and refuted by the White House, I just decided to call and ask.
Now, while I'm sure Sessions spokewoman was not going to come out and say, "Why yes, he did say that!"... I read the quote to her verbatim. I asked her if she could confirm the reports now circulating that it was Sessions who made the remark. She said, "Absolutely not. He did not say that. The White House has issued a statement also denying that this was ever said."
Take it with a grain of salt, or for what it's worth. I report, you decide. This is beginning to remind me of the elementary school game of gossip, where you start out with something said by one person and by the time it gets to the last person, it's a whole 'nother thing.
I just think we need to be careful before we go bonkers over this one. The Truth is Out There, but I'm not sure we know what it is.. yet.

(53,061 posts)the White House read out that meeting to Senate Democrats, and we regret the misunderstanding, a White House official said.
Ranchemp.
(1,991 posts)which the White House has refuted the incident and Jay Carney flat out denied it happened yesterday.

to show even a modicum of respect to our CIC.
Sessions should have been bounced out of the Senate due to his ties to Countrywide Mortgage Scandal, ties to Jack Abramoff, and ties to Allen Stanford.

(23,957 posts)Especially when multiple 3rd-parties claim the affirmative. Who is the white house to speculate on what Sessions didn't say? Maybe the WH staff present just didn't hear him say it. Anyway for Sessions to deny saying it is expected, but to hide behind the white house statement as a defense is weak tea indeed.

I would love it if they woke up in Alabama and threw him out of office. He's been there far too long, helping to poison government.

(13,877 posts)More of "they both do it". Bipartisanship. The Adults in the Room. We can protect their immature, little RW egos only so far before they are, soon hopefully, forced to take responsibility for their racist BS, their Temper Tantrum Caucus, and Grow Up Already.
