Lessons Learned

In 2008 Republicans took a huge thumping. They believed the reason they got beat so badly was not that they were right wing but that they were not right wing enough. They worked on fixing that and then low and behold in 2010 they won overwhelming victories in most states. Was that the true lesson to be learned form 2010? I believe that the true lesson is that people want a Democratic Party that is Left from Center. When Democrats went further and further to the Right to try winning over some Republicans ( an impossible feat) People started wondering why they voted for them. If we were just going to get Republican Lite than why bother? In fact the Democratic turnout in 2010 was dismal. I mean truly dismal...Republicans have tested their theory over the last few years and the American people have become disgusted with them.. So maybe they didn't win because they weren't far enough to the right. Maybe they won because Democrats just figured Why Bother, when all they were going to get was Republican Lite Policies anyway..I think the Main Lesson should be Democrats just didn't go far enough to the left. We settled on a Republican designed Health Insurance Plan. We have kept in place the Bush* tax cuts for over ninety percent of the people. We are not being fiscally responsible. We are continuing the war in Afghanistan with no apparent good outcome for the USA. We are more Conservative than Richard Nixon was. That isn't what I voted for and while I would NEVER EVER cast a vote for a Republican I may not cast a vote for a Republican Lite either. We need to be Liberals (Proud Liberals) and the Hell with getting GOP approval for any of our plans for bettering the american people..Then again maybe 2010 was just one big fluke and there are no real lessons to be had...
