Is "Freedom" overused?

I see mostly right-wingers nowadays yelling about "freedom," especially if they no longer can harrass certain groups like gays or women.

Back in the 60's "freedom" was in a lot of songs, mostly in attempts to "be profound."

Is the concept of "freedom" being mis-used?
