Brave~

Two nurses at a Minnesota children's hospital had an idea. They wanted to make a video featuring their patients, something fun to look back on, when cancer is hopefully just a memory. The video has since gone viral.

There is perhaps little sadder in this world than a kid with cancer. But the nurses in unit 5 at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital heard the song "Brave" by Sara Bareilles and knew it just fit. So, on their days off and before their shifts, they shot a video.
Nearly 70 staff members danced their hearts out and cheered on their patients, who were not just the inspiration, but the stars.

Sarah Ewald is brave, and battling cancer for the send time. "There aren't always bad times, like you know, you need to be able to laugh about it," she said. "You need to have fun."

What no one expected was their fun video to go viral. Some 300,000 have already watched it. The nurses say that they know these kids, know their stories and what they've been through, but for other people to see how amazing they are and to be affected in the same way just means so much to them, and hope it continues to inspire other kids.

I found this on my nieces FB page. She is an ICU nurse, as is her mother. Then you have my mom, retired nurse. My grandparents, nurse and doctor, so very long gone.

So coming from a family of them, I love the staff's caring for our sweet children. Such a hard time for those kids and their families, yet the staff honored them for their bravery.

So sweet, Sid. Thank you for your kind tears.

I am glad that this went viral on FB. The children deserve the honor.

Sid

Children's Hospital At Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center Performs Katy Perry's 'Roar' (VIDEO)
Posted: 10/22/2013 2:33 pm EDT

This week, Katy Perry released her new album, 'Prism,' but the pop star may be getting out-shined.

That's because patients, parents, doctors, nurses and even administrators at the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock released their own inspiring cover of Perry's hit single, "Roar" -- and they've got us all choked up.

The hospital in Lebanon, N.H., made the video for its annual CHaD HERO Half Marathon & Ripcord 5K, according to its Facebook page.

The heartwarming clip features grade-A lip synching, dancing from people of all ages and, of course, lots of roaring.
